Discover the joy of creating your own hand-built ceramic mug in this engaging pottery class in Portland! In this workshop, you will learn the basics of slab building, a pottery technique that does not require a wheel, just your two hands!The class begins with a slab-building demo where you’ll learn to create stencils and attach pieces of clay seamlessly. Each student will receive pre-rolled slabs of clay, along with all the tools needed to shape and decorate their mug. After sketching out ideas and creating stencils, you’ll bring your design to life and add a splash of color with provided colored porcelain. The rest of the session is all about building and personalizing your piece.At the end of this workshop, you will walk away with an understanding of slab building, and one to two beautiful handmade mugs ready for your morning coffee! This ceramics class is a great way to get your foot in the door with a new hobby. All mugs will be fired and glazed by the instructors outside of workshop hours; you will be notified when your items are ready for pickup.
