Personalize a mug with handmade stamps in this fun block-printing class in Portland. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of stamp carving and print your own stamp on a pre-made mug using ceramic underglazes! This is a beginner friendly craft workshop that doesn't require previous ceramics or block printing experience. Simply come ready to learn and create and you'll leave with a beautiful handmade item.

At the start of the workshop, your instructor will share some examples of stamps they've carved and how they look when printed on pottery. Your instructor will also demonstrate how to use linocut tools. You will practice carving with the tools before carving your own stamp design. Then it's time to unleash your creativity as you take some time to sketch and brainstorm ideas. Your instructor will provide guidance and suggestions on how to design an image that will translate well onto clay. Next, you will carve your stamp! Paper will be provided to do test prints, so you can make sure you feel good about your design. Once you are ready, you will print your stamp onto a pre-made mug using ceramic underglaze.

This craft idea is a fantastic way to challenge your brain, learn new crafting techniques, and create a functional piece of art! From personalizing your design to carving into your stamp, you'll find this process is relaxing and rewarding from start to finish.

After the workshop, your instructor will glaze and fire the mugs, and they will be available for pickup at a later date.
